To honour and remember the establishment of the Macedonian state and the sacrifices made by the Macedonian people during the struggle for independence from the Ottoman Empire, each year FOMKUD organises a festival that brings the member groups together to participate in the FOMKUD “Ilinden Festival”.

The Ilinden Festival provides an opportunity to the Macedonian-Australian youth groups to display their skills and pride in their Macedonian heritage by performing traditional Macedonian dances and songs. The participants of Ilinden Festival comprises of:

• About 160 performers, and

• 10 musicians
