Welcome to the MKUD MAKEDONKA website
Makedonka means "Macedonian
women" in Macedonian, and is the symbol of this
Macedonian cultural artistic association.
During the
times when Macedonia was under the Ottoman Empire rule, Macedonian
women were known for their
skill and inventiveness of
native Macedonian Folk Costumes. Macedonian women
manufactured the folk costumes themselves out of homespun
thread (usually wool, linen, cotton, hemp), using traditional
tools.
