MKUD Tanec
is a Macedonian folk dance group that was
founded on 29 September, 1989 based in
Melbourne, Australia. Tanec was
established with the aim amongst many
to uphold the preservation of the
Macedonian cultural heritage,
including language, music and art.
Tanec in conjunction with the other
Macedonian cultural and artistic
groups will continue to uphold this
aim.
The
group consists of about 50 members,
boys and girls from the age of about 5
to 17. The group is active, with
everybody from the committee members to the
parents of the performers organising
group activities.
Children from any background
are welcome to join Tanec and learn
the art of Macedonian dancing. Our
instructors speak fluent Macedonian and English,
so no one is excluded.
MKUD
Tanec is not only well known in the Macedonian community, but
also by the wider community as it has performed at a number of
festivals. Recently held festival "MakFolk Fest - Let's
Celebrate Together" which included performances from a number
of cultural and artistic organisations, including from the
Australian and Chinese communities to name a few. MKUD Tanec
also performed at "Darebin Music Feast", a festival organised
by the City of Darebin to celebrate the diverse community
within the City of Darebin, and included performances from a
number of cultural organisations.
MKUD Tanec would like to thank the Macedonian-Australian community,
the businesses that financially support MKUD Tanec, the
Victorian Government, Thomastown Secondary College, City of
Darebin and City of Whitelsea for their ongoing support.
